Jason Simmons

Director of Health Solutions

Jason Simmons is a nationally recognized leader in federal health IT, clinical informatics, and digital transformation, with more than 20 years of distinguished service across the Military Health System (MHS) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As the Director of Health Solutions for EMKS, Jason brings mission-driven leadership and deep technical acumen to guide enterprise modernization efforts across VA, Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of Health Agency (DHA) environments.

 

Throughout his career, Jason has spearheaded initiatives that have shaped the future of federal healthcare delivery. He has led enterprise-scale efforts supporting 9.7 million beneficiaries across 39 global medical facilities and currently drives integration and performance transformation efforts for VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) portfolio.

 

Jason’s prior leadership roles include:

 

  • Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM): Oversaw enterprise IT governance and capability development for over 1.1 million Service Members, reprogramming $100M+ to accelerate mission-critical modernization.

  • Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC): Directed digital health initiatives at the DoD’s only Level I trauma center, including deployment of clinical communications systems and 10,000+ system upgrades.

  • Manager, Electronic Health Record Modernization Portfolio/Project Mgmt, Office Health Informatics: Managed numerous complex integrations of VHA and VA projects to integrated solutions to informatics issues to improve the function and user experience of the VHA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) initiatives.

 

Jason holds board certifications in Nursing Informatics and Health IT (CPHIMS), as well as advanced credentials in critical care (CCRN-K) and enterprise portfolio management. He is highly proficient in federal health platforms including Cerner/Oracle, EPIC, AHLTA, CHCS, ESSENTRIS, and MODS. A U.S. Army Veteran with multiple overseas deployments, Jason earned his Master of Science in Health Informatics Administration from the University of Maryland.
